About Donna Mitchell & His Design For Health, LLC
I would like you to know a little bit more about me and why I started His Design For Health, LLC.
I established this company for the sole purpose of helping others make informed decisions about their health and lifestyle choices. It is what we don’t know that will hurt us. Most people don’t have the time to research cutting-edge technology, read the research that never makes it to mainstream media, and then ask the question, “What if the things I’m doing are not the best answers for me and my family, even though it seems to work for others?” What is it that we don’t know that is affecting my health today that won’t be announced until decades later?

When I was not feeling my best in 2004, I was merely told it was hormonal. Now, there’s a great explanation for why I was tired, rundown, had zero energy, slept all the time, and started gaining weight when I was a previously healthy, vibrant, athletic young lady. I have since discovered I’m not the only one who has not been given answers for why I had poor health, fatigue, and a host of other ailments but instead told that it was all in my head or was hormonal.
Please understand I am not faulting mainstream medicine- it is the way they are trained, not to be disease detectives, but to prescribe for symptoms, surgery to remove body parts that are malfunctioning and not to return the body to ultimate health by good solid nutrition, lifestyle, and choices. I ask the why questions. Why do we not suspect lifestyle, habits, and everyday choices as the reasons for our malaise and lack of vitality?
Here are some of my accomplishments and experiences that have led me to want more than what mainstream medicine offers.
- Medical Laboratory Technologist (ASCP) trained and worked at one of the largest trauma units in Virginia.
- Director of the Medical Assistant School in Lynchburg, VA, at Phillips Business College, training in all areas of the lab, anatomy and physiology, medical ethics, pharmacology math, medical office assistance, etc., for area physicians; had a reputation for providing “some of the best medical assistants” the area doctors had ever encountered from this area. CMA (AAMA)
- Worked for the largest private research firm in the Washington Metro Area conducting government research contracts for:
- The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) is the largest ongoing statistical survey that was started in 1957 and continues today for such organizations as the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), Center for Disease Control (CDC), National Institute of Health (NIH), National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and many others too numerous to mention. I was a clinical data collector from 1990 to 1994 and was called back as a trainer from 1996 to 2001.
- National Inventory of Clinical Laboratory Testing Services for CDC which led to the development of the CLIA standards that all laboratories follow today for their certification.
- Private sector research for Proctor and Gamble and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research – just to name a few of the studies I had a key role in as a trainer and data collection.
- Returned to College at Kennesaw State University from 1995–1996, pursuing my degree in Medical Genetics and Advanced Biology. Called back out of school to continue with research on the CLIA data collection and NHANES IV project.
- Did volunteer work at McLean Bible Church from 1996 to 1998, part-time staff from 1998 to 2000, and then accepted a full-time commissioned pastor position from 2001 until 2004. This is important as many alternative health practitioners are new age, and I am fully grounded in the Biblical Word of God as a born-again believer in Jesus Christ.
- Enrolled in the International Institute of Original Medicine out of Columbia, Maryland, and studied under Dr. Jim Sharps from 2005 to the present. I am finishing my doctorate this year.
- Was accepted in May 2007 at Canyon College, Caldwell, Idaho, to pursue an online degree in Doctor of Naturopathy, which is accredited by the American Naturopathic Medical Accreditation Board (ANMAB), and the graduates are eligible to apply for certification exams through the American Naturopathic Certification Board, Inc. (ANCB).
- Additional training from Biomedx (www.biomedx.com) in Chicago, Illinois, in Live Microscopy, Biological Terrain Part 1 and 2 in July 2006, August 2006, and November 2007, respectively.

All of my experiences may look very impressive, but nothing is more impressive than my clients who have learned the reasons why they felt so bad and are now on the road to making better health choices and understanding how the body responds to everyday habits!
Seeing people learn and understand how they can have better health, make informed decisions, and change their lives is exciting. Information and knowledge are power, the power to change your life, your choices, and your lifestyle! I love being a disease detective. What is the why behind your what? I can’t cure diseases, but I can identify weak links to your health and help you on your journey to better health! That is the greatest accomplishment I could ever have.
Currently, I am working on a new health journey. On May 2, 2013, on my way to work, I was rear-ended at a stop light. This totaled my car, and I sustained injuries that prevented me from any exercise that could cause unnecessary movement to my brain. I am returning to work and trying to recapture my own health, so come take this journey with me as we do it together!
Purpose
When we get back to a more natural form of eating and lifestyle, we return to the way we were created to live.
With the advancement of technology has come an increase in heart disease and the number one killer today, cancer. Prevention is always an easier way to go when trying to live healthier, happier, and longer. If you want to obtain your ideal weight, improve your health, or just your fitness level in order to walk up two flights of stairs without getting winded, we must stop our fast-paced microwave, instant gratification way of living.
If you have allergies, digestive problems, weakened immune systems, or other health concerns, we want to take a look at your life habits and choices.

An inventory of your preferences and tendencies and other criteria such as:
Environment (Air/Water/Exposures)
Diet
Sleep/Rest/Relaxation
Stress
These will reveal what challenges your body is going through every day.
Once we have identified patterns and possible sources of problems, I can help you start to adapt to a new lifestyle that is as much as practical to you and your limitations. Everyone is different in what they can do, can afford to do, and will do. Each person’s program depends on all of those factors.
To sleep better, have fewer daily health challenges, have more energy, and slow the aging process will start you on the road to better health than you have had in years, and I will be here to educate you!
Having someone to call and check on you and your progress and encourage you will help you to obtain a better daily regime.
FAQ
What is an alternative healthcare practitioner? Alternative healthcare practitioners can use:
Different methods and principals in their practices. Here at His Design For Health, LLC, we will only address what we do. Basically, we assess each client individually and seek the root of the problems they may be experiencing instead of addressing their symptoms. Once someone establishes patterns of behavior resulting in any particular symptom, the behavior can be addressed to change the outcome. We don’t treat symptoms or disease states. However, by establishing healthy eating, sleeping, water consumption, fresh air, and sunlight habits, as well as eliminating as many unhealthy environmental factors as possible, health improves. The single most important factor everyone can control is our eating habits.
How long will it take for me to see results?
That depends on the individual, but a major factor will control this – cellular regeneration. Most cells will have an approximate cell life of 90-120 days before they die and are replaced with new cells. Whenever you start anything new for your body, you need to keep this factor in mind and give yourself at least three months, and ideally four months, to see the full effects of all cells replenishing themselves with the new agenda. Some people are so nutrient-deprived that 25% of them will see some immediate results, others will see results in 60 days (50%), and the last category may take the full four months (25%). The bottom line is it is not instant, and things that promise instant results usually are not good for you. Natural healing takes time (120 days) to start feeling better as you are allowing the body to be nourished for it to heal itself once all the right components are present.
What is a healing crisis?
A healing crisis is when the body starts eliminating toxins at such a rapid rate that you can experience flu-like symptoms. At His Design For Health, LLC, our goal is to not move your health or Terrain rapidly when you experience a healing crisis. However, you should understand the possibility of feeling worse before you feel better, as toxins are eliminated and can be relative to an individual.
How do I know if I need to detox?
Again, at His Design For Health, LLC, we approach everyone individually. Some people are so unhealthy; to detox them would cause them to have a healing crisis. In such a case, this type of person would need to be nourished to make their body stronger before we can start to detox them. Everyone is bombarded every day with toxins in food (pesticides, herbicides, and others), water (chlorine, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), heavy metals (Mercury, lead, arsenic, aluminum, copper, nickel, and others), and Trihalomethanes (Bromoform, Chloroform, and others), skin/health/beauty products (parabens, sodium laurel sulfates and others), indoor air (off-gassing of paint, pressed board, carpets, furniture, asbestos) and household cleaning products.
How will you determine what methods will be used to reach my goals?
Everyone is an individual with different needs, goals, resources, self-control, and the ability to execute instructions due to lifestyle and responsibilities. I work with you, the individual, taking into consideration your unique situation so that there is not a one-size-fits-all approach. My success is only as good as your willingness to do your part, so I need to know all the details so we can work together. It’s a good idea for everyone to do a total body cleansing and detox, at a minimum once a year, but sometimes more often, depending on one’s lifestyle and exposure. It’s a lot easier to keep someone healthy rather than trying to reverse damage after years of abuse to our bodies. God created our bodies to heal themselves when given the right tools.
